Did You Know Problems are Gifts from God?

Dear Friends
|
Do you remember the Christmas when you spotted a certain gift under the tree and you couldn't wait to open it?
Perhaps it was larger than the others, or more beautifully wrapped. But when you got into it, you were surprised and maybe even disappointed at what you found.
One Christmas when I was around eight years old, I desperately wanted a certain kind of doll for Christmas.
I made sure my parents knew which doll it was and I eagerly anticipated receiving it on Christmas morning.
You can imagine my disappointment when I opened the box to find a doll, but not the one I wanted.
In my childish mind, I thought there must have been a misunderstanding. I'm embarrassed to tell you that instead of enjoying what I did receive, I pouted and cried.
Sometimes life brings us gifts we don't want, and it colors our ability to enjoy life at all. Has homosexuality affected your life that way?
Eileen Egan, a lay person who worked with Mother Teresa for 30 years, described how Mother Teresa's viewed unwanted circumstances.
One day, after Eileen's conversation had been filled with a litany of problems, Mother Teresa said to her , "Everything is a problem. Why not use the word, 'gift'?"
From that time on, items that presented disappointments or difficulties would be introduced with "Today we have a small gift here." or "Today we have an especially big gift."
At this Christmas season, may we have eyes to see gifts we have never seen before, and enjoy what God has already given us.
You are loved,
Carol
